Behaviour and environment guidelines¶
Your behaviour and the environment around you are monitored while you take a test, to make sure the required conditions are met. Use these guidelines to understand the requirements and prepare for your test.
Expected behaviour¶
During your test, sit directly in front of your computer screen and make sure you're always clearly visible.
Behaviours that aren't permitted¶
The following actions and behaviours aren't permitted during your test:
- Answering or checking your phone
- Allowing another person to enter your test space
- Looking away from your computer screen for an extended period

Environment guidelines¶
Use these guidelines to set up your test environment.
- Use a private testing area. Sit upright in an area where other people won't talk and can't pass behind you.
- Turn off all noise-making devices. Mobile phones set to vibrate emit detectable sound, and any sound could be flagged to your instructor.
- Ensure your face is clearly visible. Hair, sunglasses, hats, or anything that covers your face can cause your test to be flagged to your instructor. Eyeglasses are accepted.
- Close irrelevant tabs and windows. Only have open the tabs and windows required for the test. Screenshots of suspicious activity may be shown to your instructor.
- Sit directly in front of your webcam. Stay in the middle of the webcam's view. Leaving the frame or looking away from the test could be flagged.
- Create proper lighting. Sit in a consistently well-lit room with as plain a background as possible.
- Use only one keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Multiple hardware devices connected to your computer can result in a policy violation.
- Food and drinks may not be allowed. Check with your testing institution — eating or drinking during the assessment may result in disqualification.
- Personal items aren't allowed. Sunglasses, keys, wallets, mobile devices, and other items not needed for testing aren't allowed.
